Visa for Pakistan and Iran

by James
(UK)

Hi Peter i would like if i may to ask your advice on visas -- any information would be greatly appreciated -- Im' cycling from London to Turkey - Iran -Pakistan then China -- I do not know when I will arrive in Iran and this makes applying for visas in London difficult -- my natural instinct is it just go now and sort at the visas in the adjacent countries as i get to them -- Im' a UK citizen -- do you see any glaring problems with this way of doing it -- as i say i would much appreciate any advice

Visa in Istabul
by: Peter

I got my visa in Istanbul (for the same reason as you). You can also apply in Ankara. Depending on who you deal with at the embassy and where you from, it can take a day or 2 to 3 weeks.

The man who took my application had served in Holland and we chatted a bit. Next day I had my visa. I was talking with some Japanese, who had to wait 3 weeks. Best advice? Dress proper, be nice and it will work out. Oh, tell them if they ask, what you are going to do. The Pakistani consulate told me 4 weeks was not enough for my journey, so for the same price he gave me 6 weeks. I suggest you get both Iran and Pakistan visa in Istanbul or Ankara.
