How do you lock your bike when you are visiting a museum in a big city? Do you relay on the bike friendly hotel? Locks and chains are heavy... Do you have a minimum safety gear you could advice on?
Thanks

bike security in big cities
by: Peter

Hi

Bike security is always an issue. In my case, if I am in big cities I prefer to leave my bike in the hotel (usually in the hotel room, in Asia that's seldom a problem).

I have lived in Manchester UK and Amsterdam Holland and whatever lock you use, the bike will be stolen.

I have a good lock, but I have also lived in Amsterdam where even 3 locks where not sufficient to guarantee the bike's safety.

When I arrive in a big city I put my bike at a place where I can see it when checking the hotel and ask the hotel staff to keep an eye but I never take the bike in town when I want to visit a museum or other attraction.
