A nice and new resort near Chumphon
|
|||
My original idea was to stay in Bang Saphan but for whatever reason, I decided to continue. I found the Ban Sai Thong Beach Resort 25 km south of Bang Saphan and I loved it. It's one of those resorts you want to have once in while because the feel is good. True, there's not a lot to do in the area. But then again, have a look at the view!

The hotel is one year old, now in 2006, and it's still in development. The 19 rooms are all very well maintained with hot water (a very nice and very big bathroom) and TV. For a cyclist coming from either the north of south, this is a great overnight stop. But what about if you travel with your family? Since it is 80 km from Chumphon you need to arrange transport since there's no public transport coming here. However, you may want to consider a bus to Bang Saphan and go from there to the Ban Sai Thong Beach resort.

For those of you who have their own transport, here's a map how to find the Ban Sai Thong Beach resot near Chumphon. It's worth the effort and the money.

In fact the only disadvantage, if you can speak of that, is that it is a bit out of anywhere. But having said that, it's also part of the fun. Nothing destroys the peace here.

Bangkok to Chumphon
The first part of this road is not much of interest but after Hua Hin it becomes nice.
Surat Thani to Satun
A magnificent road with plenty of splendid things to see. Think of Krabi, Phi Phi Island, Ko Lanta or even the remote beaches of Pak Meng.
Satun is the border (ferry) to Malaysia.
