India, Kashmir and LadakhDuring my visits to India I have been twice in Kashmir and once in Ladakh. Kashmir I visited the first time in the very early spring, some years later I came back from another direction. Then I visited first Ladakh, sometimes named the Third Tibet (as the Tibet is the first Tibet and Sikkim the second, according to some sources).

However, the main sites are in and in the vicinity of Leh. ManaliLast stop before you reach Ladakh through the Rothang Pass. Manali is worth a stop of a few days. Scenery and town are full of typical Himachal Pradesh culture and spectacular sceneries. A must visit: LehFormer royal city Leh has plenty to offer but you will want to come during the Ladakh Festival. It's a spectacular event usually held in August and September. |
