Once up the trail levels and we will continue for a while on a wide open path with here and there some views towards Tanjung Bungah and Gunung Jerai (good weather only).

The trail will soon start climbing again to the point were we have a nice view towards the Komtar Tower. From here the paths levels until we continue going down to the cascading waterfall. We will take a rest and a dip (if you want). Remember, this is water win area, so we have to keep the place clean.

Via 1251 steps we will hike back to the Botanical Gardens and finish our hike with a fresh fruit juice before we have a taxi back into the city center to your hotel.

Description of the trail

The trail starts with the steps to the cascading waterfall. From here we will climb further up to the junction from where we continue towards Western Hill. It will take about 40 minutes to reach the boundaries of the abandoned Crag Hotel on a path that at parts is almost vertical. There are ropes to help us.

This is a reasonable popular hiking trail in the hills. The trek takes about 3-4 hours to Tiger Hill and another to Penang Hill.

Air Itam Dam to Balik Pulau

This is an interesting option. The trail can easily be cycled and hiked. You'll pass beautiful tropical rainforest and cultivated areas with fruit farms, a wonderful day out in the heart of Penang with an option to visit the Ngoh Han Temple with spectacular views to Balik Pulau.

Cheng Kon Sze (Ching Ji Chan)

The Cheng Kon Sze temple as is, is already a good reason to hike or bike up. However, the trails are worth exploring too.

Take the bike and cycle steep up or go on foot from the main road and hike all the way to Air Itam Dam. You will have a very enjoyable hike or bike adventure.
