Around Bruas and Hutan Lipur Ulu Licin
Bruas is a little town that doesn't attracts many tourists, heck, I've never seen one in town (and I have been there many, many times). Still, if you decide to cycle from Taiping to Ipoh via Bruas, you may want to have a stop, and if you bring your tent, even a night in the jungle at Hutan Lipur Ulu Licin.
Bruas is about 55 km south of Taiping, 47 km from Kuala Kangsar and 60 km from Ipoh. There is no hotel, guesthouse or homestay in the town center.
The town was once the heart of a kingdom although there is little left that reminds of those days. There is however a little known tourist spot: Hutan Lipur Ulu Licin Beruas. To get there, take the junction at the market, there's a sign, Jalan Kampung Kilang. It's 5 kilometers. You will pass several housing areas
There's a few short steep climbs (10%) out of the village, the first at the water reservoir and after a few more. The road swindles through palm oil plantations. The Hutan Lipur Ulu Licin is at the very end of the road.
Unfortunately, despite the lack of tourism, the area near the gate is quite dirty with garbage left by locals. That said, it's still a beautiful place in virgin jungle, almost untouched by human hands.
The river has cool and very clear water. Of course you will get many mosquitoes, so if you decide to camp here, bring a mosquito net. To be on the safe site, sleep in your tent as there are snakes, cobras in the area. I also found plenty of trails of wild boar attracted to the left over by the visitors.
I guess in the weekends locals visit the place but I visited on a Tuesday when there was nobody.

Taiping to Ipoh
There are basically two ways to cycle to Ipoh from Taiping. One leads to Kuala Kangsar (with 2 options), the other leads via Bruas and is my favorite.
