A day full of slides

Most memorable of our recent adventures will be the day we started with a rockslide in Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan Province China. Poor Bob had to push Zippy, our fully loaded tandem, by himself, because he wanted me to film it. I certainly was no good at helping him because I was frozen with fear and refused to release my death grip on the bike as I locked my eyes on the raging river below. Getting through that should have been enough of an adventure, but it got worse. Approaching Lijiang and nearing 100 kilometers for the day, we hit a slick spot of wet clay and went down faster than you can yell "Tracks!" Coming out of my concussion-induced fog, I realized we'd better accept the ride to the hospital that the Chinese police were offering us. I've never wanted to find myself in a Chinese hospital and I sure didn't want to see our tandem hanging from the back of a pickup truck and tied in with one small piece of rope.
